Earmarks
Earmarks are a corrosive influence on our government. Earmarks both waste taxpayer dollars and abuse the public trust. Every year, billions of your tax dollars are wasted on pet projects that Congressmen and Senators load onto important legislation like Christmas Tree ornaments. The public Treasury is not meant to be a personal slush fund to people in a position of public trust.
That is why Sarah Steelman proposes a full and complete ban on the practice of Congressional earmarking. Furthermore, Sarah pledges that even before earmarks are banned completely, Sarah will not be part of the problem. She pledges not to request any earmark. Ever.
