Campaign Release
Rolla, Missouri- U.S. Senate Candidate, Sarah Steelman announced she will be kicking off her Flatbed Forum Tour on Monday morning. The tour will focus on values of the heartland and issues facing agriculture, Missouri’s largest industry. Steelman said, “The very things we hold sacred in rural Missouri are under attack. Bureaucrats in Washington and politicians like Claire McCaskill have proven time and time again that they are out of touch with our values.” Steelman continued, “The federal government shouldn’t be dictating to parents whether or not their child is old enough to work on the family farm. I’ve called for a moratorium on all rules and regulations, and when I get to Washington D.C., we are going to balance the budget and give farms and businesses the freedom they need to be successful again."
Steelman has been campaigning around the state in her Ford F-150 and believes the Flatbed Forum Tour is a way to talk about the issues that concern Missouri families and engage the voters: “Washington is disconnected from the rest of us. Many politicians in Washington no longer share the same values we do. Farmers are forced to deal with too many regulations and federal agencies like the EPA, the Corps of Engineers, FERC, and Congress itself. The list goes on and on. Bureaucrats and politicians are more concerned with protecting their own power and re-election campaigns than protecting the people.” Steelman continued: “It doesn’t take a Harvard law degree to get the job done. All we need is a little common sense like families and friends talk about on the back of a flatbed trucks after a long day working in the sun.”
Representative Jason Smith (R – Salem), a cattle farmer supporting Steelman who will be traveling the state with her believes: “Sarah Steelman is the only candidate who truly understands the issues facing the heartland. She’s the only candidate who understands rural values. Every day she sees the effects that government regulations have on our way of life. She knows when federal and state regulators team up with extreme animal rights groups, it is a huge threat to our freedoms to farm and hunt. I support Sarah Steelman because she’s tough and not afraid to get her hands dirty, and do the hard work it’s going to take to get our country back on track.”
Sarah, former State Treasurer and State Senator, is a committed defender of limited government. She is also a staunch advocate of a Balanced Budget Amendment, Life, the Second Amendment, repealing Obamacare and strengthening our military.
