Steelman unveils National Security Framework with support of Former Reagan Security Advisor Robert McFarlane

Kansas City, MO- United States Senate candidate Sarah Steelman rolled out her national security policy framework today in Kansas City at the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Headquarters. Steelman is touring the state with Lt. Colonel Robert McFarlane, former National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan, as she promotes her "Strong and Strategic America" National Security Policy Plan.

Steelman, who is the only the GOP Senate candidate to offer a detailed framework on national security, will unveil and discuss the components of her plan as she and Lt. Col. McFarlane visit Joplin, Springfield, Ft. Leonard Wood, St. James and St. Louis today and Wednesday.

Steelman stated, "President Obama's indecisive and aimless leadership invites attacks and emboldens enemies. A strong and strategic America has clear vision and purpose in foreign policy and national security. We stand for liberty and freedom, first and most importantly for our people and our nation, but also around the world. We don't pull punches with our enemies; we understand who they are and we eliminate their threats. We don't allow our soldiers to die in foreign lands without clear purpose and the overwhelming force of all with which we can surround them. If there is no clear mission and no overwhelming force, we get out. My goal is to return America to its rightful place as the beacon of the free world: Too strong to be tread upon, too wise to be caught off guard, too aware of our blessings to let them slip away."

Lt. Col. McFarlane is supporting Steelman because she will fight to solve our country's financial problems and protect our national security:

"Sarah is committed to balancing the budget and understands the importance of a strong economy to a strong defense. As State Treasurer she took action to fight terrorism and protect our soldiers by creating the first terror free fund in the country and cutting off money that was helping state sponsors of terrorism, like Iran."

Steelman, an economist, has been stressing the importance of getting our fiscal house in order. She believes that one of the greatest threats to our national security is our growing national debt and Congress' inability to stop spending money that we don't have.

"A strong and strategic America relies upon a financially sound and prosperous economy. It’s time to balance the budget and reduce our national debt.  We must restore our economic supply line," she concluded.

Sarah Steelman is running for the GOP nomination to challenge Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) in November. Ms. Steelman is a former State Treasurer and State Senator, a strong supporter of limited government, individual responsibility, and sound fiscal policy. She is also a staunch advocate of life, the Second Amendment, repealing Obamacare and strengthening our military.
